· How do I contact the Knowledge Exchange?

The best way to reach us is through email at nakexchange@gmail.com.

· How do I submit a proposal?

First, create an account here. Once, you’re signed in, propose away! The form asks all we need to know from you to get started.

Once we’ve received your form we’ll be in touch with next steps.

· How do I register for a class?

There are a few ways to register depending on how you’re feeling.

The first two ways include clicking the ‘Courses’ tab on the top left and then clicking either ‘Upcoming Courses and Workshops’ or ‘Course Calendar’ then selecting your course of choice and clicking “Register for this course’.

· How do I find out where my class is located?

Simple -- head over to the Course Calendar by clicking ‘Courses’, then ‘Course Calendar’.

Once you’re there, select your course and click the blue link next to location. That’ll give you a building name and even a map to your course destination!

· Is there a stipend for workshop leaders?

Yes, the Knowledge Exchange provides stipends to approved workshop leaders: $80 for 60 minutes, $85 for 75 minutes, and $90 for 90 minutes. Workshops will be selected and announced based on matching interests with our community partners (residents, organizers, organizations, etc.).

· Is there a stipend for materials?

Yes, we provide a reasonable stipend for materials to make sure your students have access to the most essential items for the course. Draft a list ahead of time and make sure to keep all of your receipts.

· How are locations chosen?

Choosing the location for your course is a collaborative effort based on your needs (AV, space, etc.), our local partners who host us (Red Emma’s, Impact Hub, MICA & Motor House, etc.), & general availability.

· Do I have to have a degree to teach?

Not at all! We value your knowledge as a content expert and welcome you to share what you know.

· Is this program only for adults?

No! But if you have a proposed course for children we expect for you to be able to provide documentation showing us your credentials to safely instruct children. We welcome supervised little ones to participate in courses designated as ‘All Ages’.

· Is there a fee to register for Knowledge Exchange courses?

Not at all. All Knowledge Exchange courses are FREE and open to the public.

· What are my responsibilities as a workshop leader?

Aside from being prepared to teach your class and having your materials ready, your responsibilities as a workshop leader include marketing the class to your network, filling out any necessary waivers, reaching out to enrolled students, and ensuring that they complete a course evaluation after your class.

· What happens if I need to cancel my class?

If you need to cancel your class reach out to your students and to your content coordinator immediately so that we can change the class status.

· What happens if my course is not chosen?

The volume of course proposals we receive is steadily increasing and unfortunately we don’t have the capacity to support them all. If we are not able to run your course we still encourage you to team up with our partner Red Emma’s and make it happen through The Baltimore Free School!
